We are transforming Development Primary School to provide free, high-quality education for rural children in Egbelu Nguru. We are building a strong foundation through transparent, community-led innovation.
Our Mission
Establish a self-sustaining educational ecosystem for DPS through robust funding models and transparent digital management systems. We are laying the foundation for high-quality education and sustainable infrastructure, empowering the next generation in Egbelu Nguru to lead in a changing world.
The Transformation
Restoring Educational Excellence
Key milestones within our first year include restoring pupil attendance by bringing over 155 students back to school and significantly strengthening educational standards through the recruitment of 5 qualified, dedicated teachers. Prior to our intervention, Development Primary School faced decaying infrastructure, a teaching staff of only 3, and a dwindling enrollment of just 12 pupils.
We are creating a sustainable cycle of success in Egbelu Nguru. By revitalizing physical infrastructure and securing quality staffing, we ensure that every child receives the foundation needed to build a brighter future for themselves and our entire community.
Our operational success hinges on a strategic Core-to-Augmented Development Approach, which prioritizes primary, life-critical infrastructure first before expanding into secondary enrichment. Central to this strategy is driving organic stakeholder motivation—inspiring community members and alumni to take ownership and lend a helping hand. Rooted in the traditional Igbo ethos of Onye aghala nwanne ya ("leave no one behind"), this collective approach ensures that as the school rises, the entire community moves forward together.
₦15M+ Community Funding Mobilized
In its first two years of operation, the SaveTheDPS initiative has successfully secured over ₦15 million in direct project funding to drive critical infrastructure upgrades, essential resource allocation, and sustained educational development at Development Primary School, Egbelu Nguru.
This funding has been mobilized through our flagship community-driven model, built on a foundation of uncompromised transparency and strict fiscal accountability. To continuously strengthen donor confidence and maintain high governance standards, we publish comprehensive monthly income and expenditure statements alongside quarterly and annual performance scorecards. This open-ledger approach ensures every contribution directly advances learning conditions and long-term academic excellence for our students.
Transforming Infrastructure at Development Primary School
Through an international strategic partnership with the Rotary Club of Greeley-Centennial, Colorado, USA, the SaveTheDPS initiative is executing a multi-phase infrastructure development project at Development Primary School, Egbelu Nguru.
This grant-funded intervention directly targets fundamental requirements for a healthy learning environment by delivering clean running water, modern sanitation, and upgraded educational spaces.
Project Scope & Core Deliverables
-
Industrial Borehole & Storage System: Construction of a high-yield industrial borehole paired with an elevated 1,000-gallon water storage tower. Equipped with a dedicated standby power supply, this setup guarantees continuous, pressurized clean water access across the entire school grounds.
-
Modern Sanitation Complex: Engineering a 6-unit toilet facility integrated with sustainable water delivery. This replaces inadequate facilities, eliminates health hazards, and restores dignity and hygiene for pupils and teaching staff alike.
-
Classroom Block Restoration: Structural rehabilitation of core teaching spaces, ensuring that physical learning environments match the standards of the new Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) infrastructure.
